I-435 & Lackman Road

Now CLOSED:   Lackman Road to eastbound I-435 ramp CLOSED starting 10:00 p.m. Friday, August 14 until November 1.

I-435 Eastbound & Westbound, Northbound & Southbound

RESCHEDULED OVERNIGHTS:  Eastbound and westbound I-435 to northbound I-35 ramp CLOSED for asphalt and barrier work 10:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 8 to 5:00 a.m. September 9  Signed detour via northbound U.S. 69 to northbound I-35.

I-35 Northbound & Southbound

Southbound I-35 right lane from Plumm Road to I-435  CLOSED 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 25 for bridge girder delivery.

Traffic shift impacting northbound I-35 lanes between I-435 and 95th Street.

NOW CLOSED:  Northbound and Southbound Pflumm Road at I-35 CLOSED started at 7 a.m. Wednesday, May 27 until mid-October.  Detour map 

OVERNIGHT FULL CLOSURE: Lenexa Drive between 99th and Pflumm Road Tuesday, August 26 from 10 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 27 to switch traffic.

Starting Wednesday, August 26 Long-term Full Closure southbound Lenexa Drive between 99th Street and 102nd Street CLOSED until September 7th for Stormwater and curb work.  Detour provided via 99thst Street, Rosehill Road, 103rd and Pflumm Road.  Northbound Lenexa Drive will remain open.

K-10 & Renner Boulevard Interchange

CLOSED: JULY 23: Westbound K-10 to Renner Boulevard ramps CLOSED for road work starting  7:00 a.m. Thursday, July 23

CLOSED: Renner Boulevard at K-10 CLOSED  for road and bridge construction starting Wednesday, April 15.  Detour map below.

NOW OPEN:  All eastbound ramps to and from Renner Boulevard open as of August 19.

 

K-10 & Ridgeview Road Interchange

No lane closures scheduled at this time.

 

K-10 Eastbound and Westbound

Eastbound K-10 left lane from Ridgeview Road to Renner Boulverd CLOSED from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Tuesday-Friday, August 25-28 for grading, asphalt and sign work.

Westbound K-10 left lane from Renner Boulevard to Ridgview Road CLOSED from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Tuesday-Friday, August 25-28 for grading, asphalt and sign work.

College Boulevard

No closures currently scheduled.

 

 

I-35 & 95th Street Interchange

Eastbound and westbound 95th Street left lanes at Monrovia CLOSED 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 11 until Wednesday, August 26 for utility work.  Traffic will be shifted northward to accommodate the utility work in the EB lanes of 95th Street.  Right turns on EB 95th Street to SB Monrovia will not be permitted.

EXPECT MAJOR DELAYS! WEEKEND-LONG FULL ROADWAY & RAMP CLOSURES:  The following lane, ramp and roadway closures on eastbound and westbound I-435 at the I-35 interchange are scheduled to occur for installation of bridge girders for the new eastbound I-435 to northbound I-35 flyover ramp**, beginning at 10 p.m. on Friday, August 7 and reopening to all traffic at 5 a.m. on Monday, August 10, weather permitting (Johnson County).

 

CLOSES at 10 p.m. on Friday, August 7 and REOPENS at 5 a.m. on Monday, August 10 as follows:

 

All lanes of westbound I-435 at I-35 CLOSED.
WB I-435 mainline thru traffic will detour via northbound U.S. 69 to westbound 87th Street back onto southbound I-35 to access westbound I-435.

 

All lanes of eastbound I-435 at I-35 CLOSED.
EB I-435 mainline thru traffic will detour via northbound I-35 to eastbound 87th Street back onto southbound U.S. 69 to access eastbound I-435.

 

Northbound I-35 to westbound I-435 ramp CLOSED.
Northbound I-35 ramp traffic will detour via northbound I-35 to westbound 95th Street back onto southbound I-35 to access westbound I-435.

Long-Term Closures

Renner Boulevard at K-10

 

 CLOSED: JULY 23: Westbound K-10 to Renner Boulevard ramps CLOSED for road work starting  7:00 a.m. Thursday, July 23

NOW CLOSED  Renner Boulevard and Eastbound Renner Boulevard Ramps

EXPECT DELAYS! 24/7 ROAD & RAMP CLOSURES: All lanes of Renner Boulevard at K-10, eastbound K-10 to Renner Boulevard exit ramp and Renner Boulevard to eastbound K-10 entrance ramp will be CLOSED to all traffic, 24/7 round the clock, beginning sometime this Tuesday, April 14, weather permitting. Renner Boulevard is scheduled to reopen in mid-September 2015, and the eastbound K-10 Renner Boulevard ramps are scheduled to reopen in August 2015, weather permitting.

These closures are needed as crews will completely reconstruct the interchange ramps, as well as reconstruct Renner Boulevard south of K-10 due to a significant roadway grade change in this area.

Advance message boards will alert traffic to the ramp and roadway closures. Marked detours will be provided. See the three detour maps below for Renner Boulevard through traffic detour; Renner Boulevard to K-10/I-435 detour; and K-10/I-435 to Renner Boulevard detour.

 I-435 from U.S 69 to just west of I-35

TRAFFIC SHIFT: Westbound I-435 traffic from U.S. 69 to just west of I-35 will be shifted to the south with three through and one auxiliary lane for reconstruction work on the westbound I-435 lanes, 24/7 round the clock, beginning on Thursday, September 4 through mid to late 2015, weather permitting.

Westbound I-435 traffic (from U.S. 69 to just west of I-35) will travel through the work zone via three through lanes and one auxiliary lane as follows:

1) Far left lane traffic will travel through the work zone only directed via concrete barrier on either side of the driving lane. Traffic will travel on an 11-foot wide driving lane with an approximate 2-foot left shoulder and 8-foot right shoulder (lane is located in former eastbound I-435 lane/median area).
2) Center lane traffic will travel through the work zone as normal
3) Right lane traffic will travel through the work zone as normal
4) Far right auxiliary lane will be used for traffic wishing to access the U.S. 69, Quivira Road and I-35 interchanges

Advance message boards will alert drivers to the traffic shift. There will be an 11-foot lane width restriction and a 55 mph posted speed limit through the project work zone throughout the project duration. Note: Eastbound I-435 traffic through this area has already been shifted to the south slightly to accommodate the westbound I-435 traffic shift. All ramp access will remain open at the U.S. 69, Quivira Road and I-35 interchanges. Project work in this area is scheduled to be completed in late 2015.

EXPECT MAJOR DELAYS! WEEKEND-LONG FULL ROADWAY & RAMP CLOSURES: The following lane, ramp and roadway closures at the I-435 and I-35 interchange are scheduled to occur for installation of bridge girders for the new westbound I-435 to southbound I-35 flyover ramp, beginning at 10:00 p.m. on Friday, June 26 and reopening to all traffic at 5:00 a.m. on Monday, June 29, weather permitting.

SPECIAL NOTE: The following June 26-29 weekend-long closures WILL ONLY OCCUR if both preceding overnight closures on westbound I-435 for Monday-Tuesday, June 22-23 take place first. If these overnight closures are cancelled due to weather or other unforeseen delays, the weekend-long closure will be rescheduled tentatively for the weekend of July 10-13.

CLOSE at 10:00 p.m. on Friday, June 26 and REOPEN at 5:00 a.m. on Monday, June 29 as follows:

I-35 & I-435 Interchange

EXPECT MAJOR DELAYS! WEEKEND-LONG FULL ROADWAY CLOSURES: Northbound and southbound I-35 and eastbound and westbound I-435 in the I-35 & I-435 interchange area will be FULLY CLOSED for an entire weekend to set bridge girders for the new two-lane flyover ramps currently under construction. Each interstate will be closed independently, one direction at a time, over the course of four non-consecutive weekends beginning at 8:00 p.m. on Friday evening and will reopen to all traffic at 5:00 a.m. the following Monday morning. There will also be varying ramp closures associated with the weekend-long closures.

EXPECT MAJOR DELAYS! WEEKDAY OVERNIGHT FULL ROADWAY CLOSURES: Northbound and southbound I-35 and eastbound and westbound I-435 in the I-35 & I-435 interchange area will be FULLY CLOSED overnight in advance of the weekend-long closures for preparation work for the bridge girder set. Each interstate will be closed independently, one direction at a time, a couple of days in advance of the weekend-long closures. The overnight closures will begin at 10:00 p.m. on a weekday evening and will reopen to all traffic at 5:00 a.m. the following morning. There will also be varying ramp closures associated with the overnight closures.
