Eastbound I-435 from K-10 to Pflumm Road
MAJOR SHORT-TERM 10-DAY LANE CLOSURES: Eastbound I-435 from K-10 to Pflumm Road REDUCED TO TWO THROUGH LANES for flyover bridge ramp demolition work beginning at 10 p.m. TODAY, Monday, May 16 and reopening at 5 a.m. on Thursday, May 26, weather permitting. (See map above for a visual of the lane closure area location.)
This 10-day lane closure is in the location where the eastbound I-435 left two lanes crossover to the westbound side of the median, which means the eastbound I-435 left two lanes will remain open in this area, while the lane that stayed on the right will now be closed. Traffic wishing to access Quivira Road or U.S. 69 would previously stay in that right lane at the lane split, just past Lackman Road, but with that lane now closed, drivers will be required to crossover at I-35. Eastbound I-435 access to Quivira Road and U.S. 69 will be provided via a new single lane crossover, back to the east side of the median, just past I-35.
Drivers that travel eastbound K-10 and southbound/eastbound I-435 in this area will see increased traffic delays, especially during rush hour commutes, morning primarily. Drivers should allow extra time, should pay extra special attention and follow all signage for their daily commute routes through this area, as traffic patterns will be changing tonight.
Updated daily traffic information for the #jocogateway interchange project can be viewed at: www.jocogateway.com and for the entire Kansas City Metro Area at: www.ksdot.org/kcmetro/laneclose.asp.
The Kansas Department of Transportation urges all motorists to be alert, obey the warning signs, and “Give ‘Em a Brake!” when approaching and driving through the project work zone.
Overall #JoCoGateway Phase Two Project work is scheduled to be completed in December 2016. (KDOT Project #435-46 KA-1002-06)
