I-35 & I-435 INTERCHANGE SHORT-TERM FULL INTERCHANGE CLOSURE
WEEKDAY TRAFFIC SLOWDOWN VIA SHORT-TERM FULL INTERCHANGE CLOSURE: A FULL CLOSURE of the I-35 and I-435 interchange, including all lanes and adjacent ramps from K-10 to U.S. 69 and 95th Street to 119th Street in all directions (a minimum of 1/4-mile around the interchange) will take place as traffic is stopped briefly, approximately 10-15 minutes, so crews can remove a massive bridge girder as part of the flyover ramp demolition work at approximately 1:45 p.m. this Thursday, May 26, weather permitting.
The public will be alerted late morning on Thursday, May 26, weather permitting, regarding the demolition work and the traffic slowdown via the variable message boards and KC Scout signs on the highways prior to the start of the traffic slowdown.
KDOT, GIC and law enforcement will assist with this full short-term interchange closure. Drivers should expect a delay of up to 15 minutes during the short-term closure and are encouraged to use alternate routes, if possible.
The Kansas Department of Transportation urges all motorists to be alert, obey the warning signs, and “Give ‘Em a Brake!” when approaching and driving through the project work zone.
