I-35 & I-435 Interchange Long-Term Dual Loop Ramp Closures

24/7 LONG-TERM DUAL LOOP RAMP CLOSURES: Northbound I-35 to westbound I-435 loop ramp will be CLOSED for pavement reconstruction and tie-in work, 24/7 round the clock, beginning at 10 p.m. on Sunday, April 10 through mid-June 2016, weather permitting. Then the southbound I-35 to eastbound I-435 loop ramp will be CLOSED for the same work, 24/7 round the clock, beginning at 10 p.m. on Monday, April 11 through late October 2016, weather permitting.

NEW CLOSURE! OVERNIGHT ONLY RAMP CLOSURE: Lackman Road to eastbound I-435 ramp will be CLOSED for pavement marking work due to traffic shift for above ramp closures beginning at 8 p.m. on Monday, April 11 and reopening to all traffic at 5 a.m. on Tuesday, April 12, weather permitting. Marked detour will be provided. Lackman Road traffic will detour via southbound Lackman Road to eastbound College Boulevard to northbound Quivira Road or northbound Lackman Road to westbound 95th Street to northbound Renner Boulevard to access eastbound I-435.

NEW CLOSURE! OVERNIGHT ONLY RAMP CLOSURE: Northbound I-35 to eastbound I-435 ramp will be CLOSED for pavement marking work due to traffic shift for above ramp closures beginning at 10 p.m. on Monday-Tuesday, April 11-12 and reopening to all traffic at 5 a.m. on Tuesday-Wednesday, April 12-13, weather permitting (second night is only if needed). Marked detour will be provided. Northbound I-35 traffic will detour via eastbound 87th Street to southbound U.S. 69 to access eastbound I-435.

Advance message boards will alert drivers to the ramp closures. Drivers should expect major delays during peak commute times and must use alternate routes throughout the project duration. Marked detours will be provided as follows. See marked detour map above.

NB I-35 to WB I-435 ramp traffic to detour via eastbound 87th Street to southbound U.S. 69 to westbound I-435. U-Turns are NOT permitted on 87th Street.

SB I-35 to EB I-435 ramp traffic to detour via southbound I-35 to southbound U.S. 69 to eastbound I-435 or via eastbound 119th Street northbound I-35 to eastbound I-435. We recommend that drivers use the detour route via southbound U.S. 69, and NOT the eastbound 119th Street route. The eastbound 119th Street detour route is provided as a backup marked detour route for those drivers who miss the southbound U.S. 69 detour route.

Updated daily traffic information for this interchange project can be viewed at: www.jocogateway.com and for the entire Kansas City Metro Area at: www.ksdot.org/kcmetro/laneclose.asp.

The Kansas Department of Transportation urges all motorists to be alert, obey the warning signs, and “Give ‘Em a Brake!” when approaching and driving through the project work zone.
