I-35 & I-435 Interchange

EXPECT MAJOR DELAYS! WEEKEND-LONG FULL ROADWAY CLOSURES: Northbound and southbound I-35 and eastbound and westbound I-435 in the I-35 & I-435 interchange area will be FULLY CLOSED for an entire weekend to set bridge girders for the new two-lane flyover ramps currently under construction. Each interstate will be closed independently, one direction at a time, over the course of four non-consecutive weekends beginning at 8:00 p.m. on Friday evening and will reopen to all traffic at 5:00 a.m. the following Monday morning. There will also be varying ramp closures associated with the weekend-long closures.

EXPECT MAJOR DELAYS! WEEKDAY OVERNIGHT FULL ROADWAY CLOSURES: Northbound and southbound I-35 and eastbound and westbound I-435 in the I-35 & I-435 interchange area will be FULLY CLOSED overnight in advance of the weekend-long closures for preparation work for the bridge girder set. Each interstate will be closed independently, one direction at a time, a couple of days in advance of the weekend-long closures. The overnight closures will begin at 10:00 p.m. on a weekday evening and will reopen to all traffic at 5:00 a.m. the following morning. There will also be varying ramp closures associated with the overnight closures.

Marked detours will be provided. Advance message boards will alert drivers to the roadway closures. Traffic will be directed via signage, cones and barricades. Drivers should expect major delays and must use alternate routes during the roadway closures.

The Kansas Department of Transportation urges all motorists to be alert, obey the warning signs, and “Give ‘Em a Brake!” when approaching and driving through the project work zone.
